Kolkata: Despite repeated actions taken to control the post-poll violence across the state, the situation is yet to improve. Three persons including two Trinamool Congress workers were killed on Monday night at Jagaddal in North 24 Parganas and Galsi in East Burdwan.According to sources, on Monday night at around 10:30 pm, two elderly persons identified as Md Halim (62) and Md Mukhtar (68) were having a casual chat in front of their houses at Baruipara 22 number gully in Jagaddal, when all of a sudden a few miscreants hurled multiple crude bombs at them and fled from the spot. Also Read – City bids adieu to Goddess DurgaHalim died on the spot while Muhkhtar and a few others who were injured due to the blasts, were rushed to Jawaharlal Nehru Memorial (JNM) Hospital in Kalyani, where Mukhtar was declared brought dead by the doctor. Later, three persons were arrested who are residents of the same area as the two deceased persons. Local Trinamool leadership alleged that BJP backed miscreants have done this, whereas the saffron leadership has denied the allegation. According to sources, on Monday night Trinamool worker Joydeb Roy was returning home to Santinandi village in Galsi. Near the village, he was allegedly surrounded by some BJP workers. It is alleged that the BJP workers beat Roy with bamboo sticks and other weapons. When he screamed, some nearby persons went to his rescue. When they tried to protect Roy, the BJP workers assaulted them as well. The miscreants fled from the scene later. All of them were rescued by the police and rushed to Burdwan Medical College and Hospital, where the doctor declared Roy as brought dead. The other injured persons are still undergoing treatment at the same hospital.
