first_imgOn the second night of their two-night run, Umphrey’s McGee and Widespread Panic treated fans to the collaboration they had been hoping for. Though the previous show in Tuscaloosa was a great one, last night’s concert at the Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre in Alpharetta, GA featured a great cross-over between the two bands, guest work from saxophonist Randall Bramblett, and even a major bust-out in “L.a.,” which hadn’t been played since 2012.Before Panic even got started, Umphrey’s McGee treated fans to a seven-song set that included a number of their biggest original hits. “Make It Right” opened their set, and jams like “In The Kitchen” > “Miss Tinkle’s Overture” set the pace for a great rockin’ performance. They would close out with “All In Time,” getting fans pumped up with a fun set of music.Widespread Panic opened their show with “Junior,” before treating people to the newer song “Steven’s Cat” After a great first set of music, the band introduced saxophonist Randall Bramblett. Bramblett would ultimately play seve songs with the band, including the last two of the first set: “L.a.” and “Sharon.” “L.a.” hadn’t been played in 282 shows (2/18/12), and the big bust out with the saxophonist was only one of the many highlights of the show. The band opened up set two with “Big Wooly Mammoth” before getting into “Better Off” and “Walkin’ (For Your Love).” The set rolled on with “Diner,” which segued into a jam that again saw Bramblett add his saxophone prowess. The jam segued into Traffic’s “Low Spark Of High Heeled Boys,” with “Climb To Safety” played in the middle. Finally, “Fishwater” ended the set.Of course, the show wasn’t over, and a cover of Bill Withers’ “Use Me” rang out as the first song of the encore. This was a special cover, as the band not only featured Bramblett once more, but also brought out Umphrey’s keyboardist Joel Cummins to accompany them on the track. It was a highlight of the show, without a doubt. Finally, the band cleared out their special guests and finished up the show with their song “Ain’t Life Grand.”Here are a handful of video clips and full audio from the night for you to enjoy. One Arm Steve (by Kenneth Kyser)Can’t Get High (by Bill Cochran)Walking (For Your Love) (by Kenneth Kyser)Full Audio (by Chris from Jam Buzz)Check out both setlists below, courtesy of Umphrey’s McGee’s Twitter and PanicStream, respectively.Setlist: Umphrey’s McGee at Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre, Alpharetta, GA – 9/16/16Make it Right, Attachments, In The Kitchen -> Miss Tinkle’s Overture, The Weight Around -> Linear -> All In TimeSetlist: Widespread Panic at Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre, Alpharetta, GA – 9/16/16Set 1: Junior, Steven’s Cat, Can’t Get High, Good People, One Arm Steve, The Take Out, Space Wrangler, L.a.* > Sharon* (60 mins)Set 2: Big Wooly Mammoth > Better Off, Walkin’ (For Your Love), Diner > Jam** > Low Spark of High Heeled Boys** > Climb To Safety** > Low Spark of High Heeled Boys** > Fishwater** (71 mins)Encore: Use Me***, Ain’t Life Grand**** (15 mins)Notes: * w/ Randall Bramblett on Soprano Saxophone** w/ Randall Bramblett on Tenor Saxophone*** w/ Randall Bramblett on Tenor Saxophone and Joel Cummins (UM) on keyboard**** JB on tiny guitar [‘L.a.’ LTP 2/18/2012 Aspen (282 shows)]last_img read more
