first_imgSony released its latest e-reader a few months back – the PRS-650BC (black) – which featured a 6-inch screen with an E Ink Pearl display that is also found in the latest version of the Kindle with a 600×800 resolution.Whilst it offered some respectable competition to Amazon’s creation, the above model had one major drawback and this was with the lack of wireless technology.Without Wi-Fi or 3G in place you had to upload content via good old fashioned USB. However, at the time Sony were also deep into developing an iPhone and Android e-reader App, which will please fans as they won’t have such limitations anymore. The app features include:Get bestsellers and new releases from the Reader Store.Access books purchased at the Reader Store on your Reader, PC, iPhone or Android phone.Make bookmarks, notes and highlights, and adjust font size as you read.Whilst there is no official launch date as of yet, it should be available sometime in December. But there is stiff competition with Amazon and Barnes & Noble already having apps on the platform(s), and the Samsung Galaxy Tab comes pre-loaded with Kobo out the box, so Sony has some catching up to do if they want to get ahead of the game. There is no news if Sony will release the Reader app for the iPad, but it makes sense that they will.Read more at Cnetlast_img read more
