Before the FOMC meeting, however, comes the Beige Book. The Federal Reserve will release its latest Beige Book on this coming Wednesday, March 6, at 2 p.m. EST. The Beige Book presents a summary of economic conditions and activity, based on reports from the various Fed district banks. It’s an early glimpse at the conditions the Fed is tracking and considering and serves as a sort of first look at what may be discussed at the FOMC meeting that follows a few weeks thereafter. The Fed is widely expected to raise interest rates again at this next FOMC meeting, but the Beige Book may also provide further insights into what will come out of that next gathering. Here’s what else is happening in The Week Ahead:MBA Mortgage Apps, Wednesday, 7 a.m. ESTADP Employment Report, Wednesday, 8:15 a.m. ESTConsumer Credit Report, Wednesday, 3 p.m. ESTJobless Claims, Thursday, 8:30 a.m. ESTFed Balance Sheet, Thursday, 4:30 p.m. ESTFreddie Mac Primary Mortgage Market Survey, Thursday, 9 a.m. EST Demand Propels Home Prices Upward 2 days ago Governmental Measures Target Expanded Access to Affordable Housing 2 days ago Servicers Navigate the Post-Pandemic World 2 days ago Beige Book Federal Reserve the week ahead 2018-03-04 David Wharton The Best Markets For Residential Property Investors 2 days ago Share Save Tagged with: Beige Book Federal Reserve the week ahead About Author: David Wharton Data Provider Black Knight to Acquire Top of Mind 2 days ago Demand Propels Home Prices Upward 2 days ago in Daily Dose, Featured, Headlines, Journal, Market Studies, News Home / Daily Dose / The Week Ahead: Federal Reserve Releases New Beige Book The Best Markets For Residential Property Investors 2 days ago Related Articles Servicers Navigate the Post-Pandemic World 2 days ago Data Provider Black Knight to Acquire Top of Mind 2 days ago The Week Ahead: Nearing the Forbearance Exit 2 days ago Sign up for DS News Daily Subscribelast_img read more

first_imgThe number of private school pupils is on the increase at seven out of the top ten universities in the UK, according to new research from the University of Exeter. Oxford was one of three where their number has declined.Of the ‘traditional’ subjects such as engineering, sciences and languages, 24% of private school students go on to study these at university, while only 17% of state schoolers make this choice. These results will dishearten ministers who have pumped money into education to attempt to close the gap.Not all was doom and gloom, however, as Oxford, Exeter and UCL all recorded an increase in state school students. Numbers have been rising since 2003/4, but Chloe Wildman, an Oxford student who went to state school pointed out “by studying more diverse subjects more students might stay in education, even if they didn’t go to a top ten university, which is a positive result.”last_img read more

first_imgThe 2009 New South Wales State Cup saw Hennessey’s Hornsby Lions take out the Men’s Open title, and six weeks later he was part of the Australian Men’s Open side that defeated New Zealand in Auckland in the 2010 Trans Tasman Series.March saw Hennessey’s Sydney Scorpions side win the 2010 X-Blades National Touch League final for the first time in 10 years, while earlier this month Hennessey led the Hornsby Vawdon Cup Men’s Premier League side to the title over the Penrith Panthers, where he was named Player of the Final. And last weekend he stepped out in the red, white and green of the Wanneroo Lions, being a key factor in their 2010 WA Be Active State Championships Men’s Open’s title.2010 was the second year that Hennessey has played in the WA State Championships, something that he enjoyed being a part of. “Chance Bunce and I were playing in a side last year and he moved over here for Rugby and we could have one import per team, so he just rang me up and said he was starting a new side so if I wanted to come over and help the boys I could, so I said yes.”Hennessey was instrumental in Wanneroo’s title win at the WA State Championships, having a hand in the majority of the Lions touchdowns in their grand final win over the Southern Stars, which they won 10-8. He was impressed with the talent he witnessed at the event this year, and says he has definitely seen an improvement since last year’s championships. “This year it was heaps better, last year we were playing and our team wasn’t that good and we were still going pretty good against all of the sides. ““This year everyone’s trying really hard and it’s heaps better and they are learning from going to National Touch League’s or I’m not sure if they are getting videos, but they are learning,” he said. As well as playing in the tournament, Hennessey was also able to help the players in his team, sharing some of his experience and knowledge. “I’ve called a few of them aside and told them a few things, I think they’ve taken it in and hopefully they are getting something out of me being here.”Hennessey got the chance to meet the team from Ramingining, East Arnhem Land, on Sunday, something that both parties got a real benefit from. “It was unreal, a few of them they struggle with their English but they were telling me how they got over here and they’ve only been playing for three months. It’s unreal, they are the nicest blokes,” Hennessey said.  To see all of the results, news and highlights of the 2010 Be Active WA State Championships, please visit the following website:www.statechamps.com.aulast_img read more

first_imgTORONTO — Ontario’s financial watchdog is set to release his latest assessment of the province’s economy and the government’s fiscal outlook this morning.Financial Accountability Officer Peter Weltman is expected to discuss his fall economic and budget outlook at a news conference at 10 a.m.It will be his first such report since the Progressive Conservatives took office in June. The FAO issued its spring economic outlook just weeks before the provincial election, saying the province’s deficit would jump to almost $12 billion in 2018 as a result of higher spending in the budget presented by the then-governing Liberals, as well as weak revenue gains. The Liberals had projected a deficit of $6.7 billion, a figure that was also called into question by Ontario’s auditor general. The Tories have since accepted the auditor general’s accounting but say a commission of inquiry and financial review convened to examine government spending found the province’s deficit will grow to $15 billion this year.Weltman, meanwhile, announced this summer he would look into the new government’s cancellation of the cap-and-trade program in order to determine how much that decision will end up costing the province. The Canadian Presslast_img read more

Ohio State earned its 31st consecutive home victory and its 22nd straight conference win on April 21 against Indiana. Credit: Magee Sprague | Lantern reporterThe No. 5 Ohio State women’s tennis team (24-2, 10-0 Big Ten) dominated the Indiana Hoosiers (12-12, 3-6 Big Ten) in Columbus on Friday by way of a 7-0 sweep. The Buckeyes continued their perfect conference record and notched their ninth Big Ten shutout of the season.“I’m incredibly proud,” OSU coach Melissa Schaub said. “These guys put in a lot of work. I don’t think when you see 7-0 that that necessarily always happens on that day. I think it’s the work that you’ve put in leading into the season.”The Scarlet and Gray went 2-1 in doubles play to get the first point on the board. In singles play, OSU won the first set on all six courts by a margin of no fewer than three points. The Buckeyes took the second set, and with it the match point, on every court except for two. With OSU up 6-0, the final set between junior Anna Sanford and Indiana’s Paula Gutierrez remained. The pair was tied at 2 before Sanford pulled away to win 6-3 and seal the shutout for the Buckeyes.“You definitely want to keep competing for your teammates,” Sanford said of being the last one on the court. “It’s bigger than just playing for yourself at that point. Having all of your teammates and the crowd cheering for you is definitely a lot of motivation to try and pull out the W.”In doubles play, sophomore Francesca Di Lorenzo and Sanford quickly swept Indiana’s Gutierrez and Natalie Whalen, on Court Two. Next, OSU senior pairing of Ferny Angeles Paz and Miho Kowase defeated Hoosiers Pauline Jahren and Caitlin Bernard on Court Three to secure the doubles point for the Buckeyes.Indiana’s No. 41 ranked doubles pair, Madison Appel and Kim Schmider notched their team’s lone win of the day with a victory over OSU’s No. 83 senior pair Gabrielle De Santis and Sandy Niehaus, 4-3.In singles, Buckeyes No. 1 Di Lorenzo, De Santis, Kowase, Angeles Paz and Niehaus each won their match in two sets. Angeles Paz and Di Lorenzo both put up 6-1, 6-0 victories.Next up, the Buckeyes will celebrate Senior Day as they play their final regular-season home match against Purdue on Sunday.“We’re definitely excited for Sunday,” Sanford said. “We’ll come out tomorrow and have a good practice and probably just keep working on the things we’ve been working on and hopefully play with confidence on Sunday.”The Buckeyes, the defending Big Ten regular-season champions, are currently tied with No. 10 Michigan (18-4, 10-0 Big Ten) for first in the Big Ten, and need a win on Sunday to clinch the title. Michigan will travel to Illinois on Sunday for its final conference contest of the regular season.OSU beat Michigan 5-1 in February but it did not count as part of conference play.“It’s very important,” Schaub said of how her team ends conference play. “(Michigan’s) a really good team, as is Northwestern, so we just try to take care of each match as it comes. Not try to make one match more important that the other.” read more
