A dry tree may literally explode and be consumed by fire in a matter of seconds.When the trees are placed in any area where the public may gather, the California Code of Regulations requires that they be treated with a flame-retardant solution or process approved by the State Fire Marshal.The Pasadena Fire Department requires that the following regulations be observed regarding the use of Christmas trees in areas of public assemblage, including schools, institutions, retail stores, public areas in hotels, apartment houses, and office buildings:Â· Flame retardant, applied by an operator licensed by the California State Fire Marshal’s Office, is required for all holiday trees in public buildings.Â· Per the fire code, trees and other decorations cannot block or obstruct any exit way or pedestrian path of travel.Â· The tree shall bear a tag approved by the California State Fire Marshal’s Office indicating the date, type of retardant, name of the concern that applied the retardant and the license number.Â· Candles are prohibited on trees and wreaths.Â· Wreaths must be properly treated with a flame retardant approved by the State Fire Marshal’s Office and so tagged.Â· The support device that holds the tree is an upright position must be of a type that is stable and of adequate size to avoid tipping over of the tree and capable of containing enough water to cover at least two inches of the tree stem.Â· The bottom of the trunk must be immersed in at least two inches of water at all times. Immediately prior to immersion, the trunk must be cut off at least one inch above the original cut.Â· No readily combustible materials may be placed on, under or within four feet of the maximum horizontal projection of any tree, including live specimens.Â· No tree or decoration may be displayed in a way that impedes or affects any exit.Â· No tree may be displayed for more than 30 days.Â· Only use electrical lights that are UL listed for use on indoor trees. BACOLOD City – A labor leader with suspected links to the Communist Party of the Philippines – New People’s Army (CPP-NPA) was arrested in Barangay Caduha-an, Cadiz City, Negros Occidental. Policemen said they recovered from Mansueto a fragmentation grenade, anti-government documents, P14,000 cash, eight cellular phones, cash transaction receipts, letters, a newsletter of the NPA Roselyn Jean Pelle Command, and other documents. The federation claimed that Davao is not a rebel but a NFSW labor leader based in northern Negros Occidental. He was accosted by police personnel without telling him what charges or violations he had committed, it added. Davao was brought to Cadiz City police station for proper investigation and filing of appropriate cases. In a press statement, the 79IB tagged Davao as member of the NPA operating in the area. The 55-year-old Davao was on board a public utility van when nabbed by joint elements of the Cadiz City police and the Philippine Army’s 79th Infantry Brigade (79IB) Tuesday evening for allegedly violating a city ordinance requiring the wearing of facemask.According to Lieutenant Colonel Robert Mansueto, Cadiz City police chief, Davao alighted from the vehicle and prodded policemen to arrest and subdue him while allegedly trying to draw a fragmentation grenade from his sling bag. Davao was the subject of Search Warrant number No. 5951 for Violation of Republic Act 10591, dated Oct. 31, 2019 issued by Executive Judge Cecilyn Burgos-Villavert of Regional Trial Court, Branch 89, Quezon City, however, the latter was able to escape during the implementation of said warrant, it added. “We saw this arrest of Gaspar Davao as another form of trumped-up cases which Duterte regime adds up to his long list of repressive records against the progressive leaders of the sugar workers,” the NFSW said./PN Gaspar “Aldong” Davao – a resident of Barangay Pinapugasan, Escalante City, Negros Occidental – was a suspected ranking official of the CPP-NPA’s Northern Negros Front. But the National Federation of Sugar Workers (NFSW) decried the supposed illegal arrest of Davao.
